June 30, 2010
Ryan told me that he had "3 days of fun" planned for us, so honestly I knew SOMETHING was up. Of course, if you know me, you know that I HATE being surprised so of course I asked him "Do I need to be dressed up for this?" "Do I need my camera?!" :) He told me that today, June 30th, we were just going to go to the Galleria and then go to dinner so I didn't need to be all dressed up and that tomorrow would be the biggest of the three days. So I got ready and after Ryan got off of work, he picked me up and off we went.
We got to the galleria and did some shopping. When we left, he said that we had time before our dinner reservations, so we went to pick up some wine from the liquor store. We then went to Willie G's Steakhouse and had a wonderful dinner. I had two, ok maybe 3 glasses of wine and we just talked and laughed, much like every other dinner we ever go to. The whole time we were eating I noticed that Ryan was checking his phone, but I didn't think too much of it because he's always on his phone for work. As we were leaving, Ryan said we had three more stops to make...which surprised me because it was already almost 8:30 pm. We got in the car and started to drive off and I asked Ryan if we could go to Crave Cupcakes since we were right there.
We got to Crave and went to the door, only to discover that they were already closed. I was SO mad! All I wanted was a strawberry cupcake and I can remember almost getting on to Ryan about how if only we would have gotten there a few minutes early we could have made it in time. Ha! As we were walking to the car, the manager opened up the window and said that although they were closed, he hadn't shut down the register, so if we wanted to come in and see what they still had that would be ok. I was hesitant because I know what it's like to be closing and a customer comes in at the last minute! Ryan told me it was my choice, so I said sure.
We went in and the manager said he had put the tray in the back. He came back out with twelve cupcakes, and ALL I could think about was "where is the strawberry one?" Of course, if I would have been paying attention this all would have gone a lot different! As I turned around to ask Ryan what he wanted, he said, "you don't see any cupcakes you like?" So I looked back at the tray and it was only then that I noticed that they all had little wedding decorations on them and then there in the center, on a strawberry cupcake, was a candied engagement ring. I turned again, sort of confused, and there Ryan was with the most beautiful ring in his hand. He said all the right words I had wanted so long to hear, and then of course I said, "YES!"
As we were eating our cupcakes, I learned that Ryan had set the whole thing up with the manager a few days before. It was PERFECT. After we left, still shocked, we finished our last two stops-his parents and my parents.

Ryan set up a dinner at our favorite restaurant, Sambuca, for both of our families. We spent the night drinking good wine, eating great food, and already starting to talk about wedding plans!

Ryan got in touch with my best friends Liz and Erin and set up a dinner for all of our friends to celebrate! We ate at La Brisa in League City and then went to a bar in League City. It was so much fun to celebrate even more with all of my best friends, who I know were just as happy as I was that I had finally met and committed myself to the perfect guy!
